Allan, What a great website. One question, why are you doing this course?
You're too clever for it. Carol.

Allan Nice to see that those PA38s are still giving good service. I did nearly
all my PPL in G-CHER when it was registered as G-BVBL. Also flew in G-BRNJ when
they both were used by Wellesbourne Aviation (now got new Robin 200s - very
nice). G-BVBL for a long time had a stitched repair at the bottom centre of the
windscreen - I think they eventually got round to replacing it at vast cost!
Good luck with the flying.

Hello Allan. Pleased to find your site. I learned to fly at Southend then later
at Cardiff in 'about 60-61 in Austers. No radio! Only Aldis from the tower.
Gave up when I quarrelled with the CFI! Regards Mike
Bog

Nice site! I haven't seen a Tomahawk for years either! I am just like
you....decided to fly at 31 years old because I didn't want life to pass me by!
My wife said the same thing yours did. Keep 'em flying! Pete Bagrationoff PP-ASEL

Sorry to hear about the cleanup you had to do on the floor. My instructor always
told me that the best way to deal with a sick passenger was to tell them to pull
their shirt up to their eyebrows... They take the mess with them when they get
out of the plane. :) Vince Lyons Sparta, WI USA

What a good idea it is to detail your flying on a website. Just a quick note
to say well done from another Cardiff Wales Flying Club member... went solo on
G-BSVW March '98 and currently flying the group Beagle Pup G-AZCZ (parked next
to the ""Hotel"" holding point).

Hi Allan I'm not a flyer but enjoyed your website - especially the ATC funnies -
which I shared with my 19 year-old son last night. He has done a bit of flying
so understood more of the techie stuff than I did, we had a very pleasant 1/2
hour last night falling about laughing. I only came across your site because of
your name - I'm into family history and my maiden name was Hanbury - also born
in South Wales (Monmouth). I've been collecting all the info I can about
Hanbury's 1800-present day - yes a strange hobby I know but what's the Internet
for!! R U by any chance connected to the tribe of Hanbury's that lived at the
Maypole/Skenfrith Area of Monmouth from the early 1800's onwards. My Dad (Victor
- b 1919) was one of 12 (the other boys that I can remember were Frank, Ted,
Herbert, Harry, Bill) and their father was George (b c 1885 with brothers (at
least) Charles, Bill, Albert, Frank, Alfred, James) - so as you see - a prolific
lot. I have lots of info on other Hanbury's from Wales as well so if you are
interested, or willing to share details of your forebears would be happy to hear
from you. Thanks for the good laugh and the opportunity for ""quality
time"" with the lad. He's gone back to Uni today - so the house is
very quiet. Val

Hi Allan - nice job with the site. As a low hours PPL myself it's good to hear that we all encounter the same hiccups! I had a bad experience with
wind-shear myself at Sywell but mine was a downdraught! ASI dropped from 70 to 45 knots in seconds - very scary! Wouldn't mind visiting Cardiff one of the days - what are the landing fees like for light
singles?
(£15...free wind-shear with every landing...Allan)

Hi Alan Surfing the net and came across your site Thought you
may be interested to know that I took my first trial at Cardiff
with G-BOBL May 1998 Cant remember my instructor's name but
first name was Martin. Have a a photo of G-BOBL you may like if

Hello Allan, Really enjoyed your site. A great idea keeping a
record of your flights this way for others to enjoy. Nice photos
of the area. Also some ATC funnies I had not seen before. Made
my first Solo on 24/08/03 10mins at EGFF in G-BGXB after an hour
with Eric Griffiths, had not flown for six weeks due to weather.
My instructor is Ziggy (a great guy) since Christine left for
pastures new. Trial flight 30mins 25/05/02 then decided to start
training 14/08/02 so a year and 18.5 hours for PIC and a
""congratulations ,nicely done"" from the
lady ATC controller Steve.(50 years young) Abertillery. Blaenau
Gwent.

Brilliant site, and very funny. I am currently a student
pilot with CWFC, and I think flying is the best thing I have
ever done. My wife got a brand new kitchen, and I get flying
lessons. Not bad eh?

What's happened Alan - stopped flying or just fed
up of updating your pages?
(I have given up for the Winter but will
return in the Spring flying with a different club *long story*)
